Forget 6 litres, supercharging, NOS, M113 conversion etc.

This is the engine the 500E has been waiting for. If only I had the $$$.

I wish MB/AMG would make up their mind on naturally aspirated vs. forced induction engines. To me this waffling from NA, supercharging, and now turbocharging only shows that they have no clear vision for the brand. It seems the only goal is to make more power than rivals.

For me, if I win the lottery, I'd have the outgoing 6.2 liter M156 engine transplanted. I like the fact that it's normally aspirated and compact. It makes more than enough power for me. :coolgleam:

You're right about the vision. they lack the leadership that would set the company on the right tracks.

But M156 ! come on! its one of the worst block in MB history IMO. Its over revved, high compression, everything is specially made making it very expensive to maintain/repair (everything is special order), and the torque sucks !

My Dream block is a 6.5L M119 with 662NM torque. pure high displacement power.....

Well...even in the C63, where it only makes 451 HP, I found it to be a fabulous engine. Smooth and powerful, plenty of torque for me and I love engines that rev! Having the quickest or fastest car isn't very important to me. I'd much rather have a tractable engine that makes good power with relatively high RPM capability.

Yes now with the Horse power wars going on between the German manufacturers, being the quickest and fastest is not as appealing any more.
Its the special car that matters, something that would remain valuable and of high status not these trend cars that become worthless after a few years.
